A Brief History
The business started in 1992 by Charlie Chapin as
a way to pay for graduate school. At that time he
wrote brochures and formal presentations such as annual reports for public
and private clients. In 1993 San Joaquin County
Public Health hired him to produce a
multi-media campaign to reduce tobacco use. The
first television PSA he wrote for that campaign, titled
"Dear Mom & Dad" won a national award, the
campaign was a great success and the rest, as they
say, is history.
In 1996 Charlie finished his Ph.D. in
Marketing, concentrating in qualitative research.
In 2000 Charlie was chosen as small Business
Operator of the Year by the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. The company rapidly evolved, each year amassing
national awards for video productions and winning best documentary in the
Delta Film Festival in both 2003 & 2004.
Charlie Chapin III began an internship in 2003 as an assistant videographer and editor as the company
also began adding their expertise in documentary film production for attorneys representing
catastrophic personal injury victims. Many of these films were successfully used in mediations to settle the litigation brought by hundreds of abuse victims against the Catholic Church from 2003 to 2004. By January,
2006 their legal clients using these mini-documentaries had recovered over $90 Million,
averaging nearly $1M per client.
In 2006 the company turned its attention to a global
methamphetamine
crisis. Choose Life or Choose Meth, a 95-minute,
five-time national
award winning documentary was the result.
It forms the
cornerstone of a multimedia campaign designed to
eliminate the impact methamphetamine has on
communities. Described by viewers as the best
educational video ever produced on the meth
problem, this video contrasts over 48 positive
health education messages against the harm
that meth causes. It aims to
prevent first time
use by eliminating the ignorance in which the
meth epidemic spreads, while
promoting recovery
to those for whom
prevention has come
too late.
